Beyond Burgers and Fries: Cost-Effective Dining at WDW

You are going to WDW! Your resort is booked and travel arrangements planned out. Now, you can dream about FOOD!

When my family is planning a Disney trip we spend lots of time talking about food. We look at menus and dream of things way out of our price range. Then reality hits and we remember that we have to stay on budget! So, what are some cost-effective dining options at WDW?

There are lots of fun food options that really give you your money’s worth. A great way to explore some great dining venues is to tour Disney Springs. We love to do this on our arrival day, it lets us stretch out our legs after a long flight. Recently, in Disney Springs, they opened Chicken Guy! – where you can get some great chicken tenders and explore fun sauces!

While visiting the Animal Kingdom, you will work up an appetite. It is the largest of the parks at WDW, almost twice the size of Epcot. There are lots of fun food options that come with an African or Asian flare, but some of these also come with a HUGE price tag. We suggest you check out Yak and Yeti Local Food Cafes. Here you will find a great selection of fun foods! They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is something for everyone.

When visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you will go on lots of adventures and step in to the action. You will work up an appetite defeating the dark side on Star Tours. But make sure to ride Rock’n’Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror before eating. When you are ready to eat check out Fairfax Fare in DHS. You will find some yummy Mexican inspired dishes sure to please your budget and stomach.

Over in Epcot, there are lots of adventurous places to eat. And really you cannot make a bad choice here. One of my favorite things to do is to explore World Showcase. Here you can dine on food from all over the world. Just stop in to the quick service at any of the countries and grab a small bite or a few to share and eat around the world. When there is a festival in Epcot, there are even more options to chose from. You will want to make sure to stop by Club Cool and try soda from all over the world.

Magic Kingdom is my favorite park. All of the wonder and amazement that started it all is right at your finger tips when you visit MK. Eating at MK on a budget can be fun. If you like good seafood you will want to check out Columbia Harbour House, home of the best lobster roll on the planet. You can also get grilled salmon, fish and shrimp, or a great salad. These are sure to fuel you up for a day of fun at the Magic Kingdom.

I know most people on a budget think they will have to eat hamburgers and pizza all week to not blow their budget on food. But I hope this blog highlights that you don’t have to do that and can still have fun eating without the huge price tag. Another important thing to remember is while at WDW the food portions are big, I am talking BIG, big enough to share. So if you and a member of your party want the same item think about just getting one and sharing it, your stomach and budget will thank you!
